So what? you say. I wholeheartedly agree. I love trashy tabloids. Love ‘em! They are distracting, like movies or books. Do I think it is a shame that “entertainment” news seems to be more popular in this country that actual news-news. Yes, I do. It’s terrible, the way this country worships celebrities. Sports players earn millions and millions of dollars a year while teachers earn around $30K. It’s despicable, criminal even. But that is not why I am writing today.
I read an article that had me laughing out loud, this morning. I read google news daily. It’s where I get all my cheery news. Anyway, in the entertainment section there was a little note about the wedding Heidi Montag and Spenser Pratt had in Mexico. The photos are all over the US magazine that comes in the mail. I have never watched the Hills (I think that i the show they were on). It seems that the entertainment press have a fairly low opinion of these two though. I don’t know what for exactly, nor do I care. I did read an article on hecklerspray.com, mainly because it is British and therefore wonderfully snarky. The fantastic put-downs made me laugh out loud so I thought I would share it. For Thanksgiving. You can be thankful that you are not these two wankers =)
“We’ll admit to feeling a frisson of excitement when we heard Monday’s news that Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt from The Hills had got married to each other in Mexico. It was like watching them admit defeat, an acknowledgment that nobody on the planet could ever put up with their constant overprivileged braying and galactic self-regard so they may as well just swallow their pride and stick with each other.
And it gave us hope for the future, too – not just for the clotheared punditry industry, but also because we knew that if Heidi Montag’s shrill, off-kilter sense of entitlement ever genetically mixed with Spencer Pratt’s sneering wankery and guff-coloured beard to form a baby, then at least it’d make everyone else’s kids seem less awful in comparison.”
the article concludes…
“For instance, if the Heidi Montag/ Spencer Pratt wedding isn’t legal, then they’ll want to have another marriage ceremony to make it legal in the near future, and that gives us plenty of time to buy lots of confetti to throw at them. Well, OK, not confetti. Gravel. Razor sharp gravel. And clumps of salmonella. We want to throw gravel and salmonella at Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.”
Hilarious.
*with head down a bit* i not only watch the hills, but DVR it
it is like enjoying your friend getting drunk and making out with the ugly dude because he is right next to her . . . it is funny now, and it will be funny tomorrow.
and OF COURSE it isn’t legal . . . unless then got a license it is just a ceremony! duh.
