Survived another 4th of July firecracker fest. Locked the kids in when they started. I think all the thunder has numbed them to loud booming noises. They didn’t seem too anxious. I was anxious though. Lola let Manny out in the middle of them. I flipped out, of course. What part of “do not let the cats out” is incomprehensible? Gah! He came in around 1 a.m., all jumpy and shivery. Wench.
Today was quiet, and cool. We are heading out of the 105+ temps, and into some nice mid-80’s. Today was 95, very doable. I puttered a lot, getting stuff together for the shop, cleaning my room, etc. I moved a bunch of stuff out to the shed, and cleaned up the garage. Planted some flowers for the shop, sor the stoop, so it looks pretty.

Colorful decor
I am not a huge fan of petunias, but they are colorful, and they can stand the heat, which is a major plus. The other plants are for inside.
I have ants in my bedroom. The little fuckers are after water, but they will take my coffee cup too. I have to rinse out the cats water dish every day, which the cats probably like, but is a pain. The ants are all over my desk, so as I sit here and type, I occasionally kill one of the little bastards that has crawled on me. In the past, I would have freaked out, but I am getting very used to the bugs here. I was leaning on the railing out back the other night, ad glanced down to see a juvenile Huntsman spider, about 2″ across, chillin’ next to my elbow. Only screamed a little. LOL.
Tonight was clean-out-the-hot-tub night. A few weeks ago I discovered that it was a mosquito breeding pond, and drained it. The drain is on the side, however (and what genius designed that?!), so 6 inches of water remained in the bottom. Last year when I cleaned it, I had to bail all the water out and then clean it with a scrubby sponge. Hard frakkin’ work. As I was contemplating a repeat performance, this year, I remembered my ShopVac. A quick check confirmed that it is a wet/dry ShopVac. Hallelujah!! I was able to just suck all that gross stuff up. It smelled like a swamp, or Fisherman’s Wharf. Yeah, more like Fisherman’s Wharf.

Science experiment
Once tha main water was out, I scrubbed it down with a broom/brush, and rinse again, vacced that out and then wiped the whole thing down with a water bleach mixture. Then Kia licked my hands. After I washed them, of course. She is a bleach addict. She loves it, it is like catnip to her. So now it is clean and filled. By the time the temps hit 100+ again it should have warmed up so it doesn’t feel like ice water.
Lots to do tomorrow, Monday. I need to return some stuff, go look at some other stuff for the shop. Buy an air conditioner for the shop. I am going to use Adirondack chairs for the pedi chairs… I have three, and we are not using them. I would need to clean them, sand them, paint them before they go in the shop. I found some on CL for sale, all pretty and ready for use, for $20 each. Score!
I was also going to run a curtain across the facial/waxing area, for privacy. Buy fabric, hem them, make curtains… lots of work and expense. The cheapest fabric I found is like $9.99 a yard. And I need 7-8 yards. And would need to sew them. On CL a lady is selling a 6 panel wooden room divider… $60 ready to go. So I am going to go look at that tomorrow too. Those two things would solve a couple of huge problems for me. I need to call the newspaper too, and get an ad running. And call and order the sandwich sign… so much to do. At least life isn’t dull, right?
Have a great night folks…
